J. Rodney Messina

Rodney Messina has been practicing law for over thirty four years.  He started the law office of J. Rodney Messina in Baton Rouge in 1991.  He initially started practicing personal injury law but found his love in criminal defense law.

After earning a BS from Northeast Louisiana University, now University of Louisiana, Monroe, Rodney was a teacher for more than 10 years in the Ouachita Parish School System. For eight years he taught physical science and biology and was also an assistant football coach and the assistant baseball coach at Ouachita High School. 

In 1987, Rodney decided to make a career change and moved to Baton Rouge to attend Southern University Law Center.  Rodney is a proud graduate of Southern University Law Center. In 2013, Rodney was recognized as a Southern University Law Center distinguished alumnus. 

Rodney is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.  Rodney is a practicing member of the CJA panel of the Middle District Court.
